On 7 April, in Vilnius, the Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Crafts hosted the annual award ceremony where Marius Stračkaitis, the President of the Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries, Notary of the 1st Notary Office of Klaipeda City, was awarded the Silver Star of Labour - 2021. This award recognises M. Stračkaitis’ notarial support for businesses during the quarantine, as well as his initiatives in simplifying notarial procedures and developing remote services. Participants of the ceremony were greeted by Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Simonas Gentvilas, Minister of the Environment, Marius Skuodis, Minister of Transport and Communications, and Evelina Dobrovolska, Minister of Justice.
“It is a great honour for me to present the award to the President of the Chamber of Notaries. I know why businesses keep going – because the Chamber of Notaries always responds dynamically and hears the needs, because its services must be accessible, high-quality, and sustainable. I believe the same expectation is inherent in both society and politics. Expectation of symbiosis, collaboration, quality, and efficiency.”
The Minister E. Dobrovolska highlighted the initiative of the Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries “to accompany Ukraine in joining the European families of notaries as soon as possible” and “to see off Russian and Belarusian notaries from the families.” On the initiative of the Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries, the Ukrainian Chamber of Notaries has become the observer member of the Council of the Notariats of the European Union, while the membership of Russian and Belarusian notarial organisations that conduct acts of aggression against Ukraine in the International Union of Notaries was suspended.
“Public opinion polls show that the public trusts notaries the most of all legal professions, meanwhile business community trusts notaries even more. Apparently, that’s why I’m here with this medal. It is very important for us to be acknowledged and rewarded by business representatives, and I sincerely thank you for this,” M. Stračkaitis addressed the attendants of the event of the Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Crafts.
