On 17-18 May 2015 the meeting of the General Council of the International Union of Notaries (UINL) took place in Istanbul (Turkey)
notarurumai.lt. On 17-18 May 2015 the Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries was represented by its President Marius Stračkaitis at the General Council of the International Union of Notaries (UINL) in Istanbul (Turkey).
Apart from other issues, opportunities for notariats of Kazakhstan and Belarus to enter into UINL have been considered at the meeting. However, notariats of these countries haven’t still made essential amendments to legislative regulations, which are necessary for these countries to conform to requirements specified for candidates to UINL.
The International Notarial Cooperation Commission is planning to go to Serbia in September or October of this year and carry out a legal examination of the notariat in this country. Stable ties are maintained with Congo, Surinam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Iran, and Lebanon. In the nearest future it is planned to revisit new UIHL members: Macedonia and Vietnam.
