President of LCN shares experience with Ukrainian notaries
Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries continues to provide methodical support to the notariat of Ukraine. Marius Stračkaitis, the President of Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries, took part at a round table discussion "The European Vector of Ukrainian Notariat Reforms" in Kiev on June 14, 2017.
The initiator of round table discussion, Chamber of Notaries of Ukraine, sought to spread the news about the notariat reforms to the interested parties, such as the Ministry of Justice. The representatives of Lithuanian and Latvian notariats had introduced the stages and directions of the two decades-old reforms of mentioned countries' notariats. Advances of electronic technologies and their applications to notaries' work was also discussed at the round table.
Mr. Stračkaitis highlighted a spectrum of challenges the Ukrainian notariat faced after its accession to the International Union of Notaries (UINL) in 2013. Mr. Stračkaitis stressed a number of immediate issues needed to be taken in order to fulfill the UINL membership criteria, such as mandatory Notary Chamber member fees, the essential principle of numerus clausus, introducing the limited number of notaries and their territorial quota, and the abolishment of state-employed notaries.
