President of Chamber of Notaries introduces new notarial deeds on National TV
notarurumai.lt. New notarial deeds bring more convenience to the clients of notaries, Marius Stračkaitis, the President of Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries said on Lithuanian National TV LRT.
Mr. Stračkaitis, participating a daily LRT TV news broadcast "Good afternoon, Lithuania", introduced a number of novelties in notarial sphere, which had come into effect since the beginning of 2016.
The amendments to Law on the Notariate empowered notaries with new functions, such as issuing enforcement records related to notarized deeds; authenticating documents with Apostille; providing mediation services.
"Authenticating an official document with Apostille makes it legally valid abroad. Previously in order to authenticate the document a person had to address the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was necessary for people to travel to the capital from the farthest corners of Lithuania. Now all they need is to go the the nearest notary bureau", Mr. Stračkaitis said.
Issuing enforcement records related to notarized deeds now helps people to avoid the legal procedures in court and hiring a lawyer, Mr. Stračkaitis said. Now a person, for example, who hasn't received a payment in accordance to the notarized real estated deal, needs only to address the notary, which will issue enforcement record, which, in a row, should be delivered to the bailiff, avoiding a lengthy court procedure.
