Poll: the most reliable lawyers – notaries

The public opinion poll shows that when evaluating the legal institutions employees, Lithuanian citizens already four years in a row rely on notaries mostly. According to the representative Lithuanian citizen poll which was carried out by public opinion and market research center “Vilmorous”, 58% of respondents rely on notaries, 9,2% of respondents mistrust notaries, indifferent – third of the respondents.

This is the highest reliability percentage among employees of such institutions as lawyers (41 percent), police officers (40 percent.), special investigations service employees (36 percent), State security department employees (31 percent), prosecutor (28 percent), judges (25 percent), and bailiff (17 percent).

“Vilmorous” on the request of Lithuania Chamber of Notaries according to the representative poll methods on the 2-7 of October, current year, surveyed 1006 respondents of the age 18 and more in 21 towns and 63 villages.

“Already for fifteen years – since the restore of independent notary – the notaries aim to become a close citizen’s advisor, even more tangible with every year. The social polls confirm the citizen trust in notaries every year and motivates us to serve our clients better”, - stated Marius Stračkaitis, the president of Lithuania Chamber of Notaries.

“ It is very pleasing that there are professions in Lithuania whose representatives are trusted; 58 percent is a lot and this evaluation, I believe, is qualified , as half of the citizens during the two years period had business with notaries”, - stated Vladas Gaidys, the director of public opinion and market research center “Vilmorous”.

According to “Vilmorous” poll data, during the last two years period, 45 percent of respondents were dealing with matters at notary bureaus. During this period, approximately a quarter of respondents (26 percent) visited notary bureau once, and almost one fifth (19 percent) of respondents addressed them twice or more. Almost two thirds (64 percent) of respondents dealing with notaries over the past two years, evaluate the notaries provided service well, less than third (28 percent) – satisfactory.

More than half (60 percent) of the respondents think that there is sufficient number of notaries in Lithuania.

In 2005, the citizens reliance on notaries reached 51 percent, 2006 – 57 percent., 2007 – 58 percent. The company “Sprinter tyrimai” carried out the polls these years.
