Notaries of Baltic countries are to exchange information about powers of attorney
Notaries of Baltic countries are to exchange information about authenticity and validity of powers of attorney issued in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
Such decision was made at the meeting of the Council of the Notariats of the Baltic countries, which took place on the 2nd of September in Riga. Notaries of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia agreed to use databases of each country to confirm authenticity and content of a power of attorney, document status (valid/ invalid).
Establishment of common legal space in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, increase in the competitiveness of notary’s profession, more qualitative satisfaction of customers’ demands, performed reforms, and expansion of electronic notarial services’ range were discussed at the meeting of the Council of the Notariats of the Baltic countries.
At this meeting Lithuania was represented by the president of the Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries Marius Stračkaitis, vice-president Daiva Lukaseviciute-Binkuliene, presidium members Svajone Saltauskiene, Rasa Ona Inokaitiene, Vita Jankovskaja, Daiva Verpetinskiene. During the meeting the president of the Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries Marius Stračkaitis presented topical issues of the Lithuaian notariat on draft laws concerning extension of notary’s powers until the notary reaches the age of 70, enshrining of notarial tariffs’ setting principles in law, issues on assignment of new functions to notaries - making of enforcement inscriptions for notarized transactions with arising pecuniary obligations by means of certificates of notarization authenticity (apostille).
Also information was presented about the situation with assignment of civil registration functions to notaries, the mortgage reform, and the situation with real estate transactions, registration of legal entities, and the establishment of electronic system for mortgage transactions.
