Lithuanian and international notarial community commemorates 25th reform anniversary
Representatives of Lithuanian and foreign notary chambers and legal academic community assembled at an international conference in Vilnius in order to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of notarial reform in Lithuania.
The conference took part at historical Palace of Rulers and was attended by the majority of 261 Lithuanian notary, leaders of International Union of Notaries (UINL) and Council of Notariates of European Union, as well as delegates from 21 foreign country, including Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia.
President of Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries Marius Stračkaitis said in his speech that many opportunities in relations with the Ministry of Justice had been missed due to the lack of political deciseveness. Many important initiatives in legislature, spread of electronic services, etc. have been hampered.
Mr. Stračkaitis critisized the interference of govermental competition bodies into the work and decisions of Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries, as well as the lack of pro-active steps by Ministry of Justice in filling the gap of legal basis related to notarial tariffs.
