EUROPEAN NOTARIES MEET IN ITALY, BOOST SUPPORT FOR THEIR UKRAINIAN COLLEAGUES
On June 25, a plenary meeting of the General Assembly of the Council of Notaries of the European Union (CNUE) took place in Italy, at Lake Como, where special attention was paid to the support of notaries of Ukraine and this country.
Lithuania was represented at the meeting by the President of the Chamber of Notaries, Klaipėda notary Marius Stračkaitis.
The situation in Ukraine was reviewed by Volodymyr Marchenko, President of the Chamber of Notaries of Ukraine, who represented his country together with the vice-president of the Chamber of Notaries, Inna Bernatska, notary of Ostrog, and Sabrina Sybiga, notary of Kyiv. Out of approximately 6,500 notaries in Ukraine, only 1,500 currently have the possibility to work. Some of them, wearing body armor, perform their duty in a war zone, for example in the city of Kharkiv, which is constantly under fire from Russian artillery.
The president of the CNUE, the Italian notary Giampaolo Marcoz, proposed to transfer half of the funds provided for the president in the CNUE budget (50,000 euros) to the support fund for notaries of Ukraine. CNUE will continue to look for financial opportunities to support the fund.
The Chamber of Notaries of Lithuania, for its part, has already provided considerable financial support and transferred it to the charity and support fund "Save Ukrainian Notaries and their Families" established by the Chamber of Notaries of Ukraine.
CNUE unites the notary organizations of 22 EU countries and represents 45 thousand European notaries. The Chamber of Notaries of Ukraine has the status of an observing member of the CNUE.
