
European notaries and their clients have equally experienced business depression
Zagrebas – Vilnius, the 29th of September. Notaries of Europe continent are equally concerned regarding the business depression, which negatively affects the notaries’ clients.
In addition, this is stated in the International Notary Union European Affairs Committee meeting in Croatia capital, Zagreb on September 26-28th. Lithuania at the meeting was represented by the president of the Lithuania Chamber of Notaries Marius Stračkaitis and Consultant of Chamber of Notaries Vaidota Majute.
In all of the countries notaries were touched by the negative processes of business and economy, we are not exceptional at this point”, - stated M. Stračkaitis. According to him, business depression was especially felt by Great Britain notaries, followed by colleagues from Germany and Italy.
There were no decisions made during the meeting which was the second for 2008 – 2010 year cadency in the European affairs committee. It has been discussed about the prevention of money-laundering, notary secret principle assurance, Notary service modernization by implementing modern technologies. Committee suggestions have also been heard regarding the committee work priorities direction.
The committee emphasized that its purpose is not only to summarize information through questionnaires, but also to get to know the state members notary conditions. The Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries, in turn, provided information regarding the LR Ministry of Justice prepared LR Notary law amendments, notary tariff change, notary expenses audit, mandatory insurance affairs, preparation when implementing the informational system of Real estate property register of Real estate deals public electronic service.
The committee has sessions once half a year. It is planned to hold another session in spring, 2009 in Greece, Crete Island.
