A survey showed how much and what representatives of legal professions people trust in
Of representatives of legal professions Lithuanian people most trust in notaries, police officers and lawyers, according to the survey results. At the same time people rather don’t trust in other legal institutions – courts, Special Investigations Service, State Security Department, bailiffs. According to the survey carried out in this November by the public opinion and market research center “Vilmorus” by order of the Lithuanian Notary Chamber, 75 % Lithuanian citizens trust in notaries, while 14 % do not. As compared with last year when the confidence in notaries rating reached 86 %, this year it dropped 11%, but the trust is 9% higher than in 2011 (66 %), the Lithuanian Notary Chamber reports. As compared with 2012, the amount of people not trusting in notaries has reduced by 3 %, but the number of respondents who do not have any opinion on the issue is 13 % bigger. In 2010 58 %, in 2009 - 53 % of respondents trusted in notaries. The second line in the confidence table belongs to police officers –59 % people trust in them (as compared with 68 % last year). In 2011 police officers won confidence of 47 % people, in 2010 - of 40 %, in 2009 – of 36 %. According to the results of the survey, 54 % people trust in lawyers (as compared with 63 % last year), while respondents rather don’t trust in other legal institutions. 28 % of respondents trust in judges, officers of the Special Investigation Service and prosecutors have 27 % each, 25 % trust in officers of the State Security Department, while 23 % of people trust in bailiffs. In 2012 more than half of the respondents trusted in officers of the SIS and SSD. By order of the Lithuanian Notary Chamber using a representative research method "Vilmorus" questioned over 1000 respondents aged 18 and more in 20 cities and 30 villages from 13 to 20 November of this year.
