Lithuanian representatives attended the session of Commission on European Affairs of UINL held in Saint- Petersburg
The 5th legislature plenary session 2008-2010 of Commission on European Affairs of International Union of Notaries (UINL) took place on May 21-22, 2010 in Saint-Petersburg.
The president Marius Stračkaitis and a consultant Sandra Razanaite represented the Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries during the session.
M. Stračkaitis is a member of CAE working groups, investigating and performing research in the fields of prevention of money laundering, assurance of notarial actions confidentiality, notaries’ competency.
CAE session was opened with a welcome speech given by the president of the Chamber of Notaries of the Russian Federation M. Sazanova. A deputy minister of justice of the Russian Federation J. Liubimovas greeted the members of CAE. Representatives of Russian Notariat informed about a reform being implemented in Russia and recently prepared law project, regulating activities of notaries and performance of notarial actions in the Russian Federation.
CAE president, notary public of Italy M. Miccoli chaired the session. During the session, members discussed the most essential issues of European Countries Notariat and shared legal news, discussed the improvement of legal acts, regulating activities of notariat, role of a notary public in a modernized society and country, notaries relations with other law and economics professionals and accountants, functions of notaries, especially when confirming deals of real estate transfer.
Report, regarding the role of a notary when assuring the documents authenticity, which are present in the land register, was read by a law professor Laurent Aynes of Paris I University (Pantheon-Sorbonne).
The chairman of European Notarial Academy, a notary public of France P. Becque presented a European notariat law training course to notaries, students of notariat law. During the session, results of legal and economic studies, performed on an initiative of CAE, were summarized in areas of notaries competencies, legal treatment of spouses property, prevention of money laundering, availability of notary’s profession, use of information technologies when confirming mortgage deals and etc.
The following CAE session will be held on October 29-30, 2010 in Valencia, Spain.
