Delegation of the Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries took part in the Conference “Legal and Notarial Actions in Mutual Relations of Lithuania and Latvia”
The President of the Chamber of Notaries Marius Stračkaitis, the member of the Presidium Svajone Saltauskiene and the Member of the Commission for Generalization of Notarial Practice and Preparation of Legislative Acts Dalija Svirbutiene took part in the Conference “Legal and Notarial Actions in Mutual Relations of Lithuania and Latvia” held in Poland on 22-23 May 2014. Organizers of this Conference are the Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Sejny City (Head of the Consulate Dr. Vida Bagdonaviciene), the Polish Council of Notaries and the Faculty of Law of Balstoge University.
President M. Stračkaitis delivered a report “Future of Lithuanian Notariat: progress and improvement”, member of the Presidium S. Saltauskiene familiarized her Polish colleagues with minor children supervision and custody (their representation during performance of Notarial actions) and notary D. Svirbutiene discussed property relations of spouses with different citizenship. Report on prospects for application of EU Succession Regulation was presented by the Associate Professor of Mykolas Romeris University Dr. Laura Gumuliauskiene. Polish scientists discussed a mutual legal assistance treaty between Lithuania and Poland and EU Succession Regulation, provision of Notarial services on both sides of a border and improvement of work of law enforcement bodies.
Upon the end of the Conference the Chairman of the Polish Council of Notaries Tomasz Janik and the President of the Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries M. Stračkaitis rejoiced at the success of the event, opportunity to share their experience and resumption of cooperation and expressed their hopes for such conference to be held on an annual basis.
