People unwilling to obtain quick loans will be able to submit an application in most cities of Lithuania

As from now people unwilling to obtain quick consumer loans are able to register in the register “Don’t grant me a loan” in most cities of the country – this can be done by filling in an application that could be certified by any notary of the country. Previously this service could only be used by filing in an application in the office of the Lithuanian Association of Small Consumer Loans (LASCL) in Vilnius City. “Any resident unwilling to obtain small consumer loans can come to any notary office – currently there are 229 of these in Lithuania – and fill in an application on decision not to use services related to small consumer loans. A notary will duly certify the filled application and authenticity of person’s signature,” President of the Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries Marius Stračkaitis said. Notary service will be paid according to rates approved by the minister of justice.

The filled application will then only have to be sent to LASCL by registered mail, so for those, who do not live in the capital, the process is facilitated significantly. Especially active interest in this register is shown by parents of children, who borrow money; however according to the law a person may be put on the list of uncreditable persons only by personal request of the person itself or by decision of a court.

The register “Don’t grant me a loan” is intended for protection of people suffering from various addictions (for example, from gambling, emotional shopping, alcohol, and etc.), from impulsive borrowing. Currently, nine people have expressed their wish to register in the register.

“LASCL companies unconditionally undertake not to grant small consumer credits to people registered in the register “Don’t grant me a loan” within the term chosen by them – from half year to two years. Later the term may be extended. Performance of this obligation by companies is encouraged not only by consciousness but also by financial sanctions,” Director of register administering company “Creditreform Lietuva“ Saulius Zilinskas said.
